Engineered
Building System
Ready
2 Build Homes strongly encourages the use of Engineered Building Systems.
There are a number of types that fall into this category and each has its
benefits and drawbacks. We feature three types of Engineered Building Systems.
We don't specifically recommend one system over the other, because as consultants,
we know that each building project and each client has specific needs and
we provide choices and options. Many of our clients choose to stick-build
because that is what they are most familiar with. Stick-built refers to the
more traditional construction from your local lumber yard.
The term Engineered Building Systems refers to material packages that provide
the basic framing materials, usually trusses and panels and I-joists, at least
to the lock-up or dry-in stage. Ready 2 Build Homes offers more extensive packages
that also include the interior packages and/or custom systems such as solar capability,
digital home systems and other options. This we call our Integrated Building
Systems.
For owner-builders or other builders who want to maximize their time, and thus
reduce cost, having the entire package delivered, in separate shipments, directly
to the lot can significantly reduce both cost and time. It also reduces labor
either
skilled or unskilled
an added saving. But most of all, it assists in organizing
a major and often difficult portion of the building project allowing for more
successful completion.
We feature panelized systems: Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs) and Pre-framed
panels.
Our systems are approved by the UBC Building Code, in wide use throughout the
world, and have many years of acceptance in the building community. Television
programs featuring "quick" homes use these methods in order to meet
their time and quality requirements. Most of the popular building shows feature
projects on Engineered Systems. In fact, the Better Homes and Gardens Home of
the Year in 2005 was a SIP house, and the Sunset Home of the Year for 2006 is
also a SIP house. All for good reason.
